Table of Contents Clockopedia GoalsThe Clockopedia is a Wiki, or a dynamic documentation system. It was created for and by Clocks in order to serve as a centralized repository of information that we could all refer to whenever we needed to. Clockcrew.net integrated this wiki into its site in April of 2005 and organized a team of clocks to create a large and maintained documentation effort, and this effort is underway. Contact us if you would like to take part in this effort, or if you have a contribution → editors If you would just like to edit some pages, you may do so if you are a Clock,Clockfriend,or Hon. Clock on the BBS. Go to the public namespace and read on how to create & edit pages in the public namespace. The content herein is all Clock Crew related, but may extend out to tangents or interests, such as Flash tips and tricks, and anything else Clocks would appreciate handy information on.
How the Clockopedia WorksThe Clockopedia, and all Wikis, are dynamically generated pages. These pages do not exist as static HTML pages, but are created whenever required, giving the appearance of a comprehensive encyclopedia - or Clockopedia! Since the Clockopedia doesn’t use regular HTML files, Editors can go ahead and create their own pages, edit each others’ pages, delete pages and roll back pages whenever they feel like quickly and easily. Pages, like this one, are revised by Clocks to remove errors and add or remove information. If a page revision is ever bad, it is a simple procedure to roll back the page to the previous edit. This means that in order to add a page to the Clockopedia, all that is required is a few clicks and a new page may be added. Normally, Wikis are available for editing by the public, but the Clockopedia is maintained and edited by a team of editors in order to preserve the integrity of the information. An interesting part is that the Clockopedia, by its very nature, can be at some point condensed into a large document once the volume of information inside is at some critical point.
Using ClockopediaAt times you will see links like this: about_clockopedia These green links are pointing to a page, where a red link: nonexistant means that the page does not exist.
NamespacesNamespaces provide a way for the Clockopedia to have ‘subfolders’ or a heiarchy of documents. Suppose for instance that there is a section called hamburgers. If you wanted to have a sub-page about hamburgers, say one about buns, you could use Hamburgers as a namespace and create a link to a page called Hamburgers:buns → buns As you can see, the link that it takes you to is http://www.clockcrew.net/clockopedia/hamburgers/buns
