B

B was submitted to Newgrounds on August 15, 2001 by StrawberryClock, and is seen today as the birth of the Clock Crew. Because of this, this date is also known as Clockday.

Relevance

The importance of B is contested.

Some think that B was something of a peripheral catalyst; that it didn’t make the Clock Crew what it is, and the original clocks would have ended up together with or without it.

Others think that B is the reason we’re here. That if StrawberryClock had never submitted B, the Clock Crew as we know it would not exist.

Regardless of this, B is a symbol both of the Clock Crew’s tendency to use esoteric humor in its Flash movies, as well as showing that the very birth of the Clock Crew is rooted in nonsense Flash. It serves as a reminder of where we come from.

However, the usage of B in texts such as flash movies and forum posts are considered to be, by many Newgrounds viewers (including most Clocks themselves) overused. Poor usage of B is generally considered to display signs of a noob.

Flash

B has been incorporated into many Flash movies serving a variety of different purposes over the years since it’s been released. PepsiClock, for example, made C, a Flash that mirrors B almost exactly, but does not actually include it. The single letter title theme has been used for many clock movies, referred to collectively as alphabet movies.

B itself has appeared in a number of films, notably as a power source in the psuedo-anti-clock movies Clock Destroyer, True North, and How Crow Clock Stole Christmas. It’s also appeared as something of a joke in The Void, The Void II, and S&R Part 1: The Ineffable Pie. B’s also appeared as an actual character in this crap, and just as a kind of thing in Seeking B. B even appears as a holy relic in Bananabeard II

As well as several appearances, B has also been used as a pun with Clock Movie Titles. Examples include Never B Your Woman, Let it B and B reasonable.

"A"

Before StrawberryClock created the masterpiece known as B, he created A. A was more or less instantly blammed from the portal because, of course, there was no one to save it. But luckily, A can still be found at coolboyman's SheezyArt page.
