Although I’d prefer to focus on the Lock Legion’s relationship with us rather that it’s own history, I must briefly delve into it’s history because of the Clock Crew’s ties into it.
HistoryThe first version of the Lock Legion, as you could imagine, was not a new ideal. Rather, members of the Blam Club started it as a joke opponent to the Clock Crew. The idea was basically to get the C out. Replace the clocks with locks, literally. StrawberryLock, the first figurehead, was a strawberryclock .fla with the clock replaced with a lock. In fact, for a while, the Lock Legion was actually shaping up to be another Veggie Clocks deal. Soon there was an OrangeLock, a BunnyLock, a WadeFulpLock, and a Key of Glorton; the fabled power the locks strived to reach. This somewhat mythological creation fell through around the fall of .cc 1.0, and for a while the only noticable sign of the Lock Legion was the gradual increase in the scores of all of StrawberryLock’s movies, which, once pointed out, was dutifully opposed by most of the Clock Crew. Besides that, the Lock Legion had seemingly fissled out. Eventually, the Lock Legion grew past what it intended to be. It had unwittingly become a lot more serious than it was supposed to, and the original members decided to drop it. One by one they all left, and it fell into the hands of a new group of locks. Before StrawberryLock left, though, there was a turn of events. BananaClock, fed up with the way things were going for him, left the Clock Crew, giving up his newgrounds account, getting his bbs account banned, and requesting nobody contant him. He was, in his own words, “fucking gone.” Banana soon joined the Lock Legion, and essentially became their new leader. (He eventually rejoined the Clock Crew and was more or less welcomed back.) There were some instances of coup de’etat where the Lock Legion was jacked right from under him, and he even declared it dead on a few occasions, but it’s always turned up again, and Banana is pretty consistantly at the helm. Anyway, this new version of the Lock Legion was a much more serious take on emulating the Clock Crew’s ideals. There was a lot of bad blood between the two groups, not all of it stemming from Banana’s own issues. Eventually, our dear PillowClock concocted and pulled together the Clock Crew/Lock Legion Love Collab, which put an end to many of the misgivings between the two groups. The history did not end there, however. With the serious business arrival of WTFnoob, many Clock and Lock sites found themselves in the same boat. That boat being the business end of WTFnoob’s boot. Whenever a lock site went down, they could find refuge in one of the numerous clock sites if they so desired. Terms were officially good.
Today
Today, our relationship with the locks is only as good as you interpret it. The general principle is to just stay out of their business; though, that doesn’t stop them from involving us with them. Lock drama is heavily frowned upon, and the Administration seems to like to keep us clean of that silliness. New clocks should keep in mind that they are not the “enemy.” Our relationship with them is off the spectrum of like/dislike. |
