History
Overview
Masquatto signed up on the ClockCrew.net BBS in August of 2003. At the time, he did not have Flash, and hadn’t even bothered to create an NG (Newgrounds) account. By the time October hit, Masquatto had Flash 5 and an NG account. He posted frequently on Clockcrew.net until its closing in December of ‘03, at which time he moved to CCUK (clockcrew.co.uk). He eventually became a mod there, and was at a fairly respectable status. At the closing of CCUK, Masquatto became fairly inactive until the opening of the current version of ClockCrew.net, at which time he again began contributing to the Clock Crew.
History with Newgrounds
Masquatto had actually discovered Newgrounds in ‘99, when there wasn’t even a Flash Portal. After a bit, he was bored with the site and left, never to return until mid-late 2003, when he decided to see what the site had become. That’s when Masquatto stumbled upon his first Clock Crew movies. Shortly after joining the CC, he created an NG account on October 3rd, 2003.
Discovering the CC
Masquatto first gained interest in the CC through movies such as The Portal, Sonne, and The Void. Eventually, he decided to check out the clockcrew.cc site, which at the time had just shut down, and had become just a white page featuring Clear Clock rotating to music. He introduced himself to BlueClock, who forwarded Masquatto to ClockCrew.net, and the rest is history.
Contributions
Masquatto’s only full feature movie is a Clockday '05 short satire on modern drama called "The Breakup". It can be found here.
Masquatto has two other NG submissions: "Trailer: -Mist City-" and "Beautiful Creation". The Mist City trailer is a short preview of a movie that stopped production very early on, and won’t be finished, and "Beautiful Creation" is Masquatto’s "The Runs" movie, in which Masquatto gives birth to BlueZombie Clock through defecation.
Aside from movies, Masquatto has contributed to the CC through a number of other means, including moderating on CCUK, creations emoticons (:flamers:), creating signatures and avatars for others, contributing to the CCUK skin, creating .fla's for others, opening and running the Clock Crew SheezyArt Page, writing tutorials (Masquatto’s Tweening Tutorial, for example), and generally helping out when new members/Flash users need it.
Random Facts
- “Masquatto” is a made up (as in not a real word) alias that Masquatto has been using since before he was in the CC. When joining the CC, he kept the name, and decided to be a virus of the portal as a backgrounds story. To fit this, his .Fla was a grid. Masquatto has since changed his appearance considerably, and no longer goes with that background story.
- The "Metal Waffle" version of Masquatto Clock was created when Masquatto decided that the grid body was too plain and simple; he tried to give the grid some depth, and it ended up turning out like a metallic waffle. Masquatto hasn’t changed the .Fla since.
- Masquatto is a liberal-leaning moderate who believes in fairness and logic in government.
- Masquatto enjoys playing Starcraft: Brood War, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, Counter-Strike, Natural-Selection, and Guild Wars. He owns a PSP with homebrew and emulation and uses it every day.
- Masquatto was, for a long time, a member at Flecko.net, and had worked his own mod of Madness: Interactive. A demo of it can be found here.
- Masquatto uses Flash 8, and in the past has used Flash 5 and MX 2004. All his public .fla’s are released in Flash 5 (which works with all later versions as well), however, so don’t you fret.
- The following are Masquatto’s past .Fla’s: v1 v2 v3 v4 v5 v6 v7
- Masquatto has set a few trends in the past. Most can be found in this post.
Masquatto's Final Comments
Well, I’ve been in the CC for almost 3 strong years now, and I’ve learned a whole not. I’ve made many friends, and though I haven’t made all too many movies, I hope to make a number in the future, and even if I don’t, just being a part of the group is a whole lot of fun. You can bet that I won’t be quitting for a while, and if you need any help, or just want to talk about something, please feel free to contact me. :]
