    so brave was pretty

The art/animation was all right and sometimes even creative, but the film itself wasn't much better than all right. I laughed a few times after MAJOR PLOT POINT happened, and the good parts of that were really good... but up until then it's not very exciting. Maybe it was the caliber of humor that the Shrek VIII-meets-Madagascar-penguin wacky triplets exemplify, or maybe it was that 90% of the trailer scenes are from the beginning of the movie. The dramatic scenes weren't too evocative, either, especially the bit at the climax which sort of goes on for too long.

Not a bad message, and not as bad a movie as I'd expected (I bet $2 that it would end in a dance party; I lost), but it didn't seem as "smart" or powerful as some other Pixar movies. Which is not to say it wasn't watchable. If I apply my method for grading anime (laugh:cringe ratio), it's a success. I didn't cringe once, except for during the coming attractions holy shit.

I really don't like the look of Wreck-It Ralph. The problem for me is that whereas in Toy Story the toys all move in the way that they physically would if they were alive (and therefore the way that you moved them when you played with them as a kid), the characters in Wreck-It Ralph all have that bland, standardised style of animation which doesn't take anything about their shape or origin into consideration. They don't even look like they're from different worlds anymore. It's really disappointing after that lovely opening scene with the old pixel graphics to see Ralph transformed into a big smooth CGI Disney character, and even more disappointing to see Zangeif show up bouncing around like fucking Aladdin.

Plus: none of the jokes in the trailer are funny.

I'm not saying make the whole film in pixel graphics, you dumb nig, just that each character should be treated as if their design and origin has some worth instead of just making them all exactly the same.
