    Attention drug people

    Dear Yahoo answers,

    Did any one of you ever suffer a panic attack after smoking weed? I don't mean: "I don't feel so good, better lay down for awhile." I mean bright lights, cramped up toes, pain in your knees and back, heart palpitations, the feeling that your mind is being ripped from whatever it is that it's attached to. Two hours of intense fear because you think you've permanently broken your mind. If so, did you smoke again and how did that work out for you?

    Once, a few days after the first time I took acid, which was maybe 6 months after I first started smoking, I had a nasty panic attack. After that one time it wasn't an issue for years. Then, again, after taking acid, there were a few days when I was getting panic attacks whenever I'd smoke. Again, though, it eventually went away. Hasn't ever been a problem since.

    Pot can cause panic attacks in some people. If you have preexisting mental conditions they can be REALLY bad even if the mental condition is minor. My friend had a bad panic attack just a few weeks ago from getting too high, two straight hours of curled up in a ball crying. Take a break or don't smoke so much at once.

    Yes a few times, but not any more. Not sure exactly why, maybe I just recognize the feeling and know it it nothing to worry about so it doesn't end up spiraling out of control.

    The first time I smoked it happened to me actually. I know it sucks, it feels like you are dying. For me panic attacks always seem connected to the body high being intense while I am also in a depressed or weird mood when smoking alone.

    Unless your family has a history of schizophrenia or other mental illnesses you should be fine. If you do have this in your family you should ask your doctor about how it may affect you.

    Yeah, I think the smoking alone bit plays a big part. Especially when you're not really focused on any particular task. A week ago I watched the same Arrested Development episode like three times in a row and it was one of the greatest things ever. Yet before that I had one or two experiences where you're in bed staring at the wall and you get in this weird funk where your mind just wanders off to dark places and I remember feeling kind of similar before the panic attack.
