    Good, good, glad to hear it. I went again last night, and the group I went with all seemed to love it. It won't do as well as The Dark Knight (and it's not as good, admittedly) but I'm glad most people aren't letting the comparison affect their opinion of it too much.

    It sucks because the tragedy in Colorado has overshadowed the movie and compressed its potential.

    It will be years before it's appreciated for what it is.

    DKR was a pretty damn great movie, but DK had a much stronger pacing. There wasn't a single time in DK where I was bored, and everything seemed to flow seamlessly from anticipation to action. DKR had a pretty long middle that didn't have a payout for a while.

    Very true. Out of the twenty or so people I've seen it with, all but a couple really loved/liked it. Usually that would transfer to great word of mouth which would transfer to a big second week, etc. But when the movie comes up most people will inevitably talk about the shooting, which will definitely cast a shadow over the buzz that the movie would have had otherwise. It's still not doing too bad, though, which is heartening.

    I've heard people argue that TDKR had better pacing because there were no "slow parts." I sort of agree, because parts that are slow (Bruce's prison convos, Wayne Enterprise stuff, etc.) are kept really short, but I also very much like how The pace seemed deliberately more measured in the first half of Begins and TDK, building to a crescendo of action/plot. In TDKR he is in such a hurry to fit everything in that there is hardly any room to breath (which is a good thing for some). The
    a spoiler :
    Bruce Wayne prison scenes are a pretty good example. He's in there for months, but it seems like "Jump, miss. Do some push ups and sit ups. Jump again, repeat." And he can't even finish screaming after the Ra's al Ghul hallucination. "Nooooo-let's try and stand up."

    What I'm trying to say is that I feel like Christopher Nolan had two movies worth of material but fit it into one because this was his last shot with the series. I think he met the challenge more than admirably, but of course I would have preferred two medium-length movies than one longer movie.

    And there sat Sam, looking cool and calm, in the heart of the furnace roar;
And he wore a smile you could see a mile, and he said: "Please close that door.
It's fine in here, but I greatly fear you'll let in the cold and storm—
Since I left Plumtree, down in Tennessee, it's the first time I've been warm."
