The Clock Crew Music Challenge 2010

The newer version of this since it died long ago.

So the concept is simple. This is a contest open to everyone here. All you have to do is compose some piece of music that is at least a minute in length and no more than 4 minutes. All entries must be original composition (which means no covers allowed). Feel free to recycle bits and pieces from your old entries (if you made any) or previous tracks you've made in the past. However, if you're going to do so, only sample them. Don't use the whole song that you made before the contest. Also, it would be helpful if you provided a link to the older song that you sampled as well as the link to the new song.

As you can see, the rules have changed some. They are as follows:
    • Must be at least 1 minute in length and no longer than 4 minutes
    • Must use instruments. MEANING: Don't sample hundreds of different songs and create a mashup. Compose your own instrumentation for the piece and don't rely on sampling
    • Post a link to your finished entry once you've completed it. Youtube or Zshare would be preferred.
    • You may only enter ONCE.

All instruments are welcome! Try to keep it down to 12 different ones at most.

Those are all the rules that I can think of right now. If anymore come to mind, I'll be sure to let you all know. The contest will close JULY 11th at 8 AM EST

THE WINNER WILL GET SOMETHING NICE!

    Entries Thus Far:

Topcatyo - It's Only Bad When You Let It Be
    Thunderbolt Clock - Clockcrew 1337
Satellite Clock - Someday, There Won't Be Zombies

I was just going to pick a couple of judges, but a vote wouldn't hurt. I thought we could have a couple of winners for different categories (ex: Overall best submission, People's Choice, Best Use of Instrumentation, etc.)

Sadly I don't think we're going to even get 10 entries . But if we do end up getting 10, then I will open up more spaces for those who want to participate.

Working on a song. It's a strange one but a nice experiment.

is it against the rules to submit a song that you've been working on for a while but didn't finish before the contest was announced?

No. As long as it wasn't finished and published anywhere before, then you're fine. Although it would be nice to see something that wasn't started until after the competition was announced

You can use whatever you'd like. Just as long as everything in the end is saved into an mp3 file or whatever is acceptable for uploading it onto a site that streams audio.

If you change the sound effect's pitch in some way so that there is a melody of some sort, then possibly. An example I'll provide you with is this: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/325578

And how would I change the pitch? (I only have audacity, and this is the first time I'm using it to make music.)

In Audacity I'm not really sure. I believe there's a pitch/speed adjustment option under edit(?). I'm used to using FL studio so I can't answer that for you. Sorry mate!
