    The Dark Knight Rises

    http://www.deadline.com/2010/10/tom-...lan-on-batman/
EXCLUSIVE: While Tom Hardy's plan to play Mad Max in the George Miller-directed Mad Max: Fury Road has hit another delay, the fast-rising Hardy's in the mix for another big film at Warner Bros. I'm told that Hardy has been set by his Inception director Chris Nolan for a lead role in the next Batman film at Warner Bros. Insiders are keeping the role secret and won't even say if he's up for a villain role, but that seems a reasonable assumption. Hardy has followed up Inception with lead roles in the Tomas Alfredson-directed adaptation of the John Le Carre novel Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, and he's currently starring with Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon in the McG-directed Fox comedy This Means War. CAA reps Hardy, who's expected to return to Fury Road when it goes.
I'm glad Tom Hardy is gaining popularity, because he has been awesome in every role I've seen him in. I'm sure he will be amazing in the new Batman as well.

Yeah I'm excited about this. Ever since Bronson I've been amazed by him.

I think he'd be a good Black Mask:

Let's not forget he was also great in RocknRolla before Bronson.

I overheard some dummies in class today saying that he's going to be the new batman. I highly doubt it, but if he were to replace Bale, would you mind? I sure as hell wouldn't.

Nah, he's a lot more like Batman than Christian Bale is. Batman/Bruce needs to have an apparent calculating intelligence - Christian Bale just comes across as being kind of stupid. There's no way he'll give up the role though, he loves feeling important.

I'm hoping they go with a Bane story and make him the scheming genius he's supposed to be instead of just assuming he's an idiot because he's big. Getting Catwoman involved makes the most sense at this point though.

I had someone tell me he might be the Riddler. I wouldn't mind that.

Everyone has been saying the new Batman will have Riddler, I think it would be funny if it didn't have Riddler at all. Bane would be cool.

Wouldn't be surprised if the third movie is the end to the Nolan batman trilogy. Would make sense to base it on Knightfall staring Bane.

    specially this part:
"The story takes place over approximately six months. Bruce Wayne (Batman) suffers burnout and is systematically assaulted and crippled by a "super steroid"-enhanced genius named Bane"

Everyone just says it's the Riddler because he's the only other Batman villain they know besides the silly ones. I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that this is the last Nolan Batman too. He didn't really even want to do this one for a while.

It would certainly be amazing to see the famous breaking the bat moment in full live action glory

    I don't know about knightfall.
    long halloween had a sequel.
I wouldn't be surprised if batman 3 was largely the bits of dark victory they didn't already put into dark knight- probably not the serial killer, since they skipped that sizeable bit in long halloween, too, but the arkham breakout, batman blaming himself for what happened with dent and becoming even more of an asshole loner, maybe some of the mob stuff from long halloween... there's a lot to work with.
I think introducing another rogue element would feel like a bit of a retread. with two-face dead, and the joker... unable to attend (and, really, their two-part act about chance, corruptibility, and faith having closed its curtains pretty soundly when deebo threw the bomb controller out the window, batman took the fall for harvey, and alfred burned rachel's note) it kind of seems like batman's problem isn't freaks anymore.
the city thinks he's a killer (not entirely unlike what happened with jean paul valley in knightfall, tbqh), and most of his allies can't stand beside him- dawes is dead, dent is dead, gordon has to lead a manhunt against him, and lucius fox was threatening to resign. not to mention Mysteries knows his identity, and hasn't been given any reason to believe he didn't murder harvey dent in cold blood after rampaging on maroni and his men.
the villain, if there is one, is probably going to be somebody that jonathan and christopher nolan can fit into those themes (and how they mesh with batman's quest to rid gotham of its criminal element) to create a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. my gut instinct would honestly be the penguin (it's kind of a shame r'as was wasted in begins, because he'd be my go-to rogue to follow an act like the joker and two-face), but I'm not the creative genius behind dark knight and the prestige.

I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that when they pitched the idea to Warner they pitched it as a 3 movie deal so if he didn't want to make a third one maybe he shouldn't have told them he wanted to make 3!

I think you're right but they don't like the Penguin so we can be pretty sure it won't be him. I think whatever they do as a primary villain story, Catwoman would be a smart move for a subplot. With Bruce in such an unstable position, he's going to be considering either retiring Batman or becoming him permanently. In Dark Knight he was feeling as though he may be able to give up being Batman soon but now with the guy he hoped to replace him as a symbol for justice dead and no one else left to support him besides Alfred the idea of just giving up his normal life is going to be tempting. A Catwoman story would be perfect, she can act as a temptress, giving him a reason to leave his old life for good, while also acting as a warning, showing what the freedom that comes with this new life can lead to. I'd be really interested to see Nolan's take on Catwoman. I'd like to see a version where she's just sneaky and can't really hold her own against Batman in a fight so he doesn't want to hit her out of guilt more than anything. Put a whole domestic abuse spin on it. Nolan would love that.

Honestly, he's also the most possible in the real world one left other than Catwoman as far as major Batman villains go.
Bane is somewhat realistic, at least more so than the likes of Killer Croc or Clayface, but the full extent of his strength is still usually taken to superhuman extents in most iterations I've seen.

Well there's people like Hugo Strange, Black Mask, Firefly, Deadshot, Mad Hatter, Zsaz and The Ventrioloquist but they're not as well known. If it wasn't most likely going to be the last episode in a trilogy I'd like to see them do the Ventriloquist. He's really interesting but doesn't have enough of a connection to make it a final story.

And yeah you could pull off Bane as long as you just made him a big guy who's trained himself to peak form like Bruce has but has an edge on him because he takes some pretty powerful steroids. He doesn't need to be a giant, just a big guy. Hardy could do a good job he got pretty super buff for Bronson.
