Rules
From Clockopedia
Please enjoy your stay at the Clock Crew forums and site, and please read and keep in mind the following rules:
- These rules were changed September 23, 2011 to add a clarification to Rule #6. Any rule changes will be announced on the policy forums.
Staff Discretion
All ban lengths are subject to the discretion of the staff member responsible for the ban.
The staff reserve the right to make discretionary bans in situations where the rules are ambiguous. Bans of this sort are automatically subject to inquiry by the rest of the staff.
Types of Ban
- Chill Pill: a temporary ban on posting for more minor infractions. Chill pilled members can still access the site and most of its functionality.
- Spam Forum Ban: constant inappropriately silly posting outside of the spam forum will cause posting privileges in other forums to be revoked.
- Temporary Ban: the user's account is temporarily banned from viewing the site or accessing its features. Larger infractions or repeat offenders are more likely to receive temp bans than chill pills.
- Permaban: the user's account or IP address is permanently blocked from the site for major infractions, such as malicious attacks on the site, abusing the privacy and personal safety of other members, and/or the posting of harmful illegal content such as child porn or animal torture, or any other activity for which the Clock Crew would permanently wish to banish the user.
Site Rules
1. Do not discuss piracy
No warez, no cracks, no CD codes, no illegal programs that are used to either crack software or perform any malicious activity. Don't post links, ask for links to download, or otherwise discuss illegal copies of copyrighted works, including movies, books, software, etc.
Anything obviously ancient and unavailable (ROMs, abandonware, etc) are a grey area but should be OK.
2. No obscene material (porn, etc.)
Do not post any NWS (not work-safe) or questionable material in a public forum including gore, pornography or obscene material (hand-drawn or photos). This includes your user avatar or other site features that allow images or video to be uploaded. Obscene content must be kept in appropriate threads in the spam forum.
Posting any illegal content (child porn, bestiality) or animal torture to any part of the site will result in lengthy bans and legal action where appropriate.
3. No harassment
Stalking, constant malicious behavior, posting private or real-life information without consent, abusing the PM system, and other means of repeatedly tormenting or abusing another member.
If somebody is harassing you on the forums it's best to discuss it with them over PM or email before contacting a mod about it. Flames and insults do not constitute harassment.
4. Do not abuse the site
Do not post malicious links, attempt to break the forum layout, attempt to steal information about any member of the forums, DoS, or attempt to break into to the site. Do not make threads planning on invading / destroying / DoSsing other forums or sites on the Internet. Do not use your avatar, signature, or other account options to evade this or any other rule - you will still be banned.
Maximum signature size is 250 pixels high, maximum filesize is 1 MB. Do not put YouTube videos or auto-play flash in your signature.
5. No Account Sharing:
Only one person may use a Clock Crew forum account. Do not share your password - keeping your password for the forums secure is your responsibility. We suggest you use a unique password and not a password used on multiple sites.
6. Do not steal from other clocks
Do not steal people's names
If you are caught pretending to be someone you are not, you will be banned.
An exception can be made on your behalf IF AND ONLY IF (1) No objections to your claiming the name have been made over a period no shorter than 9 months following your first claim to the name on the Clock Crew forums AND (2) You've made regular claim to it during the entire span of time between claiming it and the present AND (3) You've contributed in some memorable way to the community, preferably Flash animation AND (4) The previous owner had not contributed any Flash that passed judgement on Newgrounds.com or played a significant role in any crew-related events AND (5) Your claim to the name is sincere and unique. If you feel your case meets ALL of these qualifications, contact an administrator and request that they put it to a community vote. If you pass with a simple majority, the name will be passed on to you. Exceptions are extraordinarily rare. It is highly recommended that you instead simply invent a unique name and lay claim to it.
Submitting any unoriginal material including, but not limited to flash, collaborative efforts, and unreleased material on newgrounds or any other site as your own will be considered stealing. If a user wishes to use somebody else's material they must seek permission from the clock who created it, or retrieve it from the library. Anything uploaded to the library is covered as fair use among other clocks, and does not require crediting. Movies done for the purpose of parody are protected from this rule. All classic clock FLA's dating 2003 and before are also fair use among clocks. Anyone caught stealing flash from another clock will be subject to a permaban.
7. Do not contest bans or locked threads on the boards
If a user is banned, or if a thread is locked, deleted, or sent to the Gas Chamber, do not make a thread asking why. If the reason is not apparent in one of these rules, send a private message to a super moderator or admin, or ask them in the AIM Blast chat "cc blast".
This does not constitute a ban on discussing these subjects in their appropriate policy or suggestions threads, but this does not mean that such threads may be created to evade this rule.
If you are banned do not harass staff members or beg to be unbanned. This is not the same as asking politely for clarification on why you were banned, or requesting to be unbanned after a reasonable amount of time. If you feel you have not broken any rules, you may request to have your ban appealed by a staff member.
Do not create an alt to evade a ban. This will result in your ban being lengthened.
8. Do not openly support/promote Clock Crew ripoff groups
Examples of this would be posting movies from these groups, using an alias from these groups, founding such a group, or promoting their websites, among others. Users found to be members of groups malicious towards the Clock Crew or abusing their access to sabotage Clock Crew projects will be punished accordingly.
Open furfandom/yiffing is also forbidden.
9. Post things in their proper forum
Read the forum descriptions and post accordingly. Post videos you wish to share in the video sharing forum birthday threads go in the spam forum, "Hi, I'm new!" or "I'm back!" threads go in the welcome sub-forum under General, and so on.
10. Do not abuse the system
Do not minimod: if you see a rule being broken, don't post about it, instead report it to the specific forum's moderator or to a super moderator. If you feel they have mismanaged dealing with that rule, speak to an Administrator. If you feel that a staff member is consistently neglectful of the rules, don't harass them or attack them in the forums: notify an administrator and, if you feel they are unfit, vote against them.
Don't try and smartass your way around rules: the staff are not bound to your interpretation or wrangling of the rules. Don't break the rules to prove a point. If you really feel the spirit of a rule is being violated, contact an administrator.
